In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned buying an inverter so I could charge my laptop from the car. It arrived the other day. Unfortunately, I was in a bit of rush to buy it, and never checked the maximum draw from my laptop -- 250 watts. Now my 200 watt inverter works well -- as long as I'm not watching videos or doing heavy computing with a bright screen and lots of disk activity. Guess I'll have to return this and pick up a 400 or 500 watt inverter.

Ripping Records
Well, I've finally gotten around to playing with the Ion Profile Pro that Robin bought us for Haunuka. The turntable plays 33s or 45s, just like any of the old turntables. But the really great thing about it is the USB output so you can record the album on just about any computer. The product comes with Audacity and EZ Vinyl Tape, both of which make ripping our old LP records fairly simple. So now I'm having fun listening to LPs that I haven't heard in years -- and making copies for my iPod. Jethro Tull's Aqualung sounds just as good now as it did 25 years ago. Of course, our discwasher fluid has long since dried out. Fortunately, it's still available.
